Transferring to Aberdeen City Council from another local authority or private agency.

There may come a time in your fostering career when you wish to move to a different fostering provider and we often get contacted by foster carers who wish to do so. In order to be transparent we advise that you are clear with your current agency that you are contacting us as we will want to discuss your transfer when it is clear that this can proceed.
In the first instance you will be offered a home visit by one of our managers, the aim of this will be to discuss
  • the reasons why you want to transfer
  • our processes, following the Best Practice Protocol
  • if any child/children are in placement
  • any particular considerations we should be aware of
After this meeting you will be given the chance to consider the information passed on and we will consider if we are able to proceed. If we are not proceeding you will be given the reasons in writing within 14 days.
We will remain in contact with you about each stage of the process and allocate you a member of our team as soon as one is available who will be able to progress your transfer.
