What is expected of a Kinship Carer?

Kinship carers have the same responsibility as if they were the parents. They have to provide safe, stable and nurturing home environment and meet the child’s individual emotional, social and educational needs.
They need to be able to work with other professionals outside and in their home, attend meetings and ‘’Looked –after’’ Children Reviews and follow the child’s care plan. It is also important that they play a positive role in promoting family contacts and the child’s family background is respected.
