Fostering and Adoption
Aberdeen City Council is supporting Adoption Week Scotland 2020
Adoption Week Scotland has three main focuses this year
- Sibling Relationships
- Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder
- Therapeutic Parenting
They are running a series of events which you can link in with (visit www.adoption.scot/adoption-week) for more information.
Aberdeen City has a number of sibling groups who are waiting to be adopted and there is a great deal of support and training around the issues that can impact them and those that care and love them.
Foetal Alcohol Syndrome can be an initial worry that many of our adopters have but again with support, training and speaking to other adoptive parents this can be something you can start to think and talk about.
Therapeutic Parenting is at the core of what we believe works for children who have experienced loss and change and is at the centre of our preparation and training. Don’t think that you have to know much about it at this stage, we will be there through all stages of the process.
If you would like to find out more, we are running an
Adoption Information Event on Wednesday 18th November 2020 12 – 2pm
Grab a coffee and join us from 12-2pm for an informal chat with our Recruitment Team over Microsoft Teams. Meet our staff and adoptive parents and bring any questions you might have about sibling adoption or just about adoption in general.
Please email adoptfostrecruit@aberdeencity.gov.uk or call us on 01224 694554 to let us know you would like to attend and we can send you a Teams invite and talk you through the process.
If this doesn’t work for you, you can always use our contact details to speak to a member of the team or complete our enquiry form.
